Tour Description |

Baja
California is a wilderness of clear warm water, beautiful beaches and coves
alive with tropical fish set against an ochre desert and red rock peaks. This is
one of the best getaway destinations we know. Enjoy blending the complimentary
activities of yoga and kayaking in one of the most pleasant environments in the
world.
If you’ve never tried kayaking this is a wonderfully gentle place to experience
the sport for the first time. Our expert instructors will teach you the
easy-to-master kayak skills and you’ll soon settle into the rhythm of breath and
paddle stroke while gliding across the clear aquamarine waters of the Parque
Nacional de Bahia Loreto.
Yoga practice in the wilderness is a rich and profound experience. The days
follow the rhythm of sun and tide and everyday you will feel more relaxed,
enlivened and connected to nature. Daily morning practice is following by an
easy paced range of activities such as kayaking, hiking, snorkeling and beach
walking.
The Sea of Cortez is home to hundreds of species of sea life. We often see Fin
and Blue whales, as well as large pods of dolphins. The refreshing combination
of clean desert and sea air with activity makes the delicious meals carefully
prepared from fresh local produce and organic ingredients one of the highlights
of the trip. The guide staff are highly trained professionals from local
communities. As well a being great cooks and natural history interpreters,
they’ll be happy to help you practice your Spanish.
The only real risk of visiting the Baja is that soon after you leave you’ll find
yourself thinking about your next visit. Practice yoga, kayak, swim, eat great
food, fall asleep under a luminous sky ablaze with stars and greet a crimson
gold sun rising out of the Sea of Cortez - the magic of Baja.

About Tour Leader |

I
heard the faint whisper of yoga three years ago and have been following the
sound inward ever since. The journey has inspired wonderful changes in my life
and I was moved to share the joy with others. I completed my teacher training in
the Hatha tradition with Prana Yoga and Zen Center in Vancouver B.C. where I am
currently teaching. I have had the great fortune to study locally and
internationally with teachers in the Hatha and Ashtangatraditions. My teaching
style is intuitive, dynamic and flexible blending aspects of movement from a
variety of yoga styles with my interest in zen meditation. The type of yoga I
teach focuses on safety, alignment and mindful dialogue between the breath and
the body. It is suitable for practitioners of all ability and experiential
levels. I blend simple postures in a flow style and provide progressively more
challenging variations for those who are ready and open.
Playing and exploring one's true nature in nature is life's greatest gift. I am
convinced there is transformative power in just being outside, in flowing over
fathoms of clear water in a kayak, in stretching the on a soft sand beach at
sunrise. The yoga on this trip will target strengthening and stretching areas of
the body specific to kayaking. We will blend yoga and
paddling together, providing an opportunity to build strength, confidence,
suppleness and relaxation. Come and experience yourself in a new way.

Testimonials
I can’t say enough about the beauty of my kayaking trip to Baja and I just want
to thank Daniela and Sacred Earth Journeys for helping to make it possible. I
had a very personal reason for wanting to go on a peaceful, spiritual journey on
the week before my birthday and this was the perfect experience – the company,
the food, the guides, the landscape and the sealife – just an absolutely
wonderful trip. I can’t wait to go back!
Christine Schattenkirk (Sea Kayaking in the Baja - Mar/08)
This trip was a gentle reminder to BREATHE and to take the time to
reconnect with my inner self. Chelsea and Hillary were great guides
who encouraged us to open up on many levels and to make the most of
our journey. Our group was willing to share in these personal
explorations and created a safe environment that was non-judgmental.
Kellie Mitchell, Yellowknife, NWT (Yoga & Sea Kayaking in
the Baja - Mar/07)
Yoga and Kayaking in the wilderness - a truly relaxing and rejuvenating
experience on many levels. The setting was amazing (I will never forget
the night sky in the desert) and our guides were both complete
treasures.
Janice Mallison, Richmond, B.C. (Yoga & Sea Kayaking in the Baja
- Mar/07)
If you need time away from the Rat Race - a
place to relax, think and get re-acquainted with your inner self - this is
the way to do it! The other participants were all educated and very
interesting. Everyone had a unique story. The setting is truly beautiful and
the yoga instructor and guide were first rate.
Morley Hornung, Vancouver, B.C. (Yoga &
Sea Kayaking in the Baja - Mar/07)
I loved the "organic" yoga. Chelsea went beyond
expectations and included early morning and late afternoon meditation
sessions and walks. Something my soul was craving. It was just the right
amount of kayaking. It was great meeting all the "like minded" people on
this trip. Hillary and Chelsea are wonderful people.
Ellen Huggett, Kamloops, B.C. (Yoga &
Sea Kayaking in the Baja - Mar/07)
It was such a great trip. I don't know if I will
ever be able to go to a regular resort trip. The kayaking to these secluded
beaches, sleeping outside while gazing at the stars (without ANY bugs),
great food that included warm home made cakes and practicing yoga while the
sun was setting behind the mountains. Who can ask for anything else.
