The Teacher

Arline Jernigan
Arline JerniganArline brings a unique blend of physicality and artfulness to her teaching. The yoga mat serves as a different kind of canvas for Arline, who continues to paint and exhibit her work in Memphis art galleries. Through her teaching as well as her art, she inspires others to feel more and move beyond preconceived notions of personal limitation.

She draws her primary teaching inspiration from Shiva Rea, "Shiva opened my eyes to the beauty of flow, the freedom that personal power offers us, and the gateway to it on the yoga mat." When you practice yoga with Arline, it’s clear that she values connection. She’s an energy maven, reading and moving the energy in her classes with ease. And, she’s fully aware of the power of her own energy. Her teaching style is pure vinyasa – linking each yoga pose together in a flow of grace, strength and stamina.

Typical Day

A typical day in paradise might look something like this:
Your bountiful breakfast awaits, prepared with luscious organic produce from the garden…
Afterward, we limber up with a dynamic two hour Prana Vinyasa Flow yoga class.

Your optional adventure* can be organized with a group, or enjoyed as a solo outing, but
the biggest challenge is making a choice from the many possibilities!

activities - Yoga RetreatPerhaps you’re surfing the beginner breaks at Pan Dulce, with lessons that will get you up on the waves in no time. Perhaps you’re headed to the intermediate breaks of Backwash or even the advanced waves at Matalpo….The ocean can also be a backdrop to sea kayaking, horseback riding, swimming with dolphins, or even exploring the tidal pools in between sunbathing or beachcombing.

How about a jungle adventure? Canopy tree climbs, or hiking with your new friends to a hidden waterfall and rappelling through the mist are popular suggestions for those who crave the extra-ordinary.

international cuisineArriving ‘home’ as the sun dips into the sea, we re-group for a revitalizing late afternoon practice; blending chant, pranayama, meditation, partner and restorative poses, and a deliciously extended relaxation/shivasana/yoganidra….

By this time, our senses are set for the sybaritic experience of a lovingly prepared evening meal. Tierra’s professional crew carefully chooses local fruit, vegetables from the organic garden, and fresh catch from the Gulf Dulce to create inspired international cuisine. Nourishment for our active bodies is a gastronomic art, and attended to with grace.

Whether you plan to come alone and experience new friendships with congenial fellow-adventurers, or get a group of yoga buddies together, we know that this week with Arline Jernigan at Tierra de Milagros will leave an indelible imprint on your soul and a blossoming smile in your heart.
