Tour Description

Michele balancing at Amber Fort, JaipurJoin Michele Labelle and Karampal Singh on a journey of Yoga and Spirituality – The Spirit of India!

India’s charm lies in its colourful play of contrasts.  Awaken the senses and feel the warmth of this exotic land and its people.  From vibrant and bustling cities to the peace and serenity of the desert, feel your spirit come alive.

The Spirit of India journey is a wonderful way of exploring India’s magic in a group setting with like minded travellers ready to explore new adventures.
Jasmine incense burns as you walk by little shrines and Ganesh, the half elephant - half human god, and remover of all obstacles, is available to you as you pray.

Imagine yourself just after sunrise, revitalized by your first yoga class in the great Thar Desert at Manvar Camp.  Surrounded by warm sand dunes and a peaceful blue sky, peacocks walk majestically around the circle where we have shared our yoga class. Having moved from one posture to the next, the rhythm of life in your body is awakened to something bigger than one could have ever imagined.  All is well in the great Thar Desert.  After the famous buffet style breakfast we jump into jeeps for our safari tour in the desert to explore village life. The wonderful laughter of children resounds as we observe impalas and wild camels eating in the tall trees.

We return to base camp to set out for our next destination - the blue city of Jodhpur. A narrow road winds its way up to the main gates.  A father plays his traditional violin-like instrument while his son, wrapped in a coined costume, dances for us. We are all mesmerized by the music, the well adorned dancing child, and the town below, speckled with blue colour.  It is all so magical.

The next day’s adventure will take us to Jaipur. The markets are filled with colorful fresh fruits and vegetables. A man is getting a shave at a shop which is simply a mirror nailed to the side of a tree. The children are coming home from school and 5 to 7 of them are all stuffed into a tuk tuk.   A family of four sits on one bicycle and the sacred holy cow takes precedence anywhere along the road. Everywhere you look there is always honking traffic and people everywhere.

In the pink city of Jaipur we are greeted at the Shahpura House Hotel with a Traditional Welcome of various flower garlands, some made of fragrant roses.  A cold drink to quench our thirst beckons us in a waiting area along with a reception fit for a queen or king.  We are guided to our vibrant rooms, adorned with matching palates of mutli-colored bedding decorated with sequins fit for royalty.  We enjoy a nice snack by the pool and that evening we engage in a yoga class on the royal carpets in the courtyard. The next day we visit the Amber Fort and travel in style, approaching like royalty on our elephant ride.   Who could ask for more?

And no visit to India would be complete without gazing in awe at the spectacular Taj Mahal.

Next on to sacred Varanasi  to witness unforgettable sacred ceremonies at the most-visited pilgrimage destination in India. Meander down the River Ganges on a morning boat ride to greet the dawn and feel an immense sense of peace and tranquillity wash over you.

At Khajuraho we admire the stunning detail and intricate carvings of India's unique gift of love to the world.  Feel your inner essence stir and awaken as you explore the fascinating temples - a perfect way to end our journey.

Our journey includes Hatha Yoga practices and group meditations which have been designed to open the seven major energy centers or chakras. Also learn about the Indian philosophies of Pantajali’s 8 limbs of Yoga. Each Yoga session will have a specific focus to allow your spirit to open to India’s magical diversity.

Journey with us on this trip of a lifetime. Come explore and immerse yourself in the Indian experience that will cause your soul to be touched, moved and inspired.

Comments from past travellers

My experience of India opened my heart wider to joy than I believed possible.  Sacred Earth Journeys did a wonderful job of linking a passionate, imaginative, and fun-loving yoga teacher with a spiritually-knowledgeable Indian tour guide and healer, who together provided a deep and informative experience of Northern India.

Sacred Earth Journeys offers a variety of very meaningful and interesting trip destinations.  I found it especially rewarding sharing India with 18 other new acquaintances from various locations in North America and New Zealand.  Not having concerns about trip planning made the tour very pleasant.

Every day was full of surprises, a gift, and a new way to look at life!

Megan Kleisinger, Abbotsford, BC (Spirit of India - Mar/08)

The Spirit of India Tour was an amazing experience. I really enjoyed discovering and exploring the colours, sights, energy and culture of India. Our guide provided us with a sense of security and confidence while sharing his vast knowledge of a wide range of topics relating to our tour. I have always traveled on my own – not on a tour – and appreciated how smoothly the logistics were handled. It was evident how extensive the preparations and planning that Sacred Earth Journeys must have undertaken in order for our journey through India to be so seamless.
Lee Ann Baxter, Vancouver, BC (Spirit of India - Mar/08)

The Spirit of India was a life journey that brought together the perfect elements to create a life changing experience: the cultural experience of India, a spiritual tie, yoga practice in a phenomenal setting, and the inspirational members of the group. You won’t find a trip like this offered anywhere else!
Alejandra Jimenez, Glendale, CA (Spirit of India - Mar/08)
