Tour Description

Balancing the Male and Female Forces
is the first of two journeys offered in 2007 in our Maya Sacred Path to 2012 program. This is a tour series that will be offered each year leading up to 2012, the end of the Maya calendar. Each program is created to help you prepare for and deal with the many changes and shifts happening in the world around you. Working in the sacred land of the Maya, learning their ceremonies and practicing their rituals, we will attempt to balance our inner male and female forces through the clearing of our Chakras.

There are seven major chakras and each one has its own specific aspects affecting perception in this dimension. In this program we will focus on balancing and awakening the seven chakras on their physical level. The seven Maya sites that we will visit to do this work have been chosen for their connection to a specific chakra. These sacred sites will also be our teachers, and if we listen with our whole being we will hear the ancient Maya wisdom that is available to us here.

After our first night in Merida, we will travel to the Puuc Region and the ancient Maya site of Uxmal, which will be our base for 4 nights. We will explore many mysteries at the site of Uxmal - the Pyramid of the Magician, the Temple of Venus, the Ball Court and Governor's Palace, considered by many to be the most beautiful of the ancient Maya structures. From Uxmal we will visit the ancient Maya sites of Chakmultun, Labnah, Xlapak, Sayil, Sta. Elena, Kabah, finishing back at Uxmal to complete our work for this journey. At Chichen Itza, we will swim in the rejuvenating waters of the Ik'il cenote, a sacred Maya pool connected underground to the site of Chichen Itza. We will return here later at night for a special candle lit ceremony with shaman Don Florencio. Our last day in Merida is Sunday where you can enjoy the Sunday markets and entertainment of Merida en Domingo.

Master Maya Teacher Miguel Angel Vergara will focus on the roots of the Maya prophecies for 2012 with their beginnings in Lemuria and Atlantis. Miguel Angel will use meditation, stories, legends, rituals, mantras, and ceremonies to help us complete this phase of our work.

Throughout the program we will be participating in Maya rituals and ceremonies with Miguel Angel. Joining us for some of these ceremonies will be local shamans who will also help guide us and heal us, on our journey. Miguel Angel will lecture on The Maya Prophecies: Connection with Lemuria and Atlantis.

This is a life-changing journey that will work in greater depth on awaking the chakras and the essence of our true selves. Please join us on this transformational journey – but please book early to avoid disappointment. Also please note that it is not required that you commit to every year in the program, you may join us for one or more tours as you please. Each tour is a stand-alone program.

Comments from some of our past participants:

I arrived in Merida with an open mind and heart. I could never have imagined the gifts that I would receive while there - from the Gods, the land, the people of the Yucatan and from my fellow travellers. This trip has changed me in some very profound ways and I will never view life and the universe in the same way. To me this trip was a gift and I sincerely thank Helen, Trudy, Julia, Richard and Miguel Angel. To me it was an honor to be on the trip and working on such dynamic levels. I will be on every trip until 2012.

Kathy Watt, Calgary, Alberta (Maya Sacred Path to 2012 - Dec/06)

Every step, every breath, and every heartbeat in the Yucatan was sacred and unlocked another piece of my true soul essence. I have a sense of freedom within my physicality that has never existed for me....I released years of trauma. I feel as though I am floating in a void of possibilities and not restricted by the past. I can't wait for my self-limiting mind to catch up to this new freedom.

Sheryl Watson, (Maya Sacred Path to 2012 - Dec/06)
Edmonton, Alberta

My experience was life changing on your tour. I went with no expectations and came away feeling I needed to share the Mayan messages with everyday people to help them wake up to the natural cycles of life. I wrote down all the ceremonies and plan to repeat them on our mountain. Miguel's message was loud and clear that we need to wake up and recognize our ancestors, send them love and heed their warnings. The ceremonies were awesome and my awakening secured. The sacredness of the sites that we visited in the jungles and on the normal tourist trips were awe inspiring. Opening our chakra systems and recognizing the intellect of the Mayans makes one wonder why their knowledge lay dormant for so long. I plan on going next year with my husband and every year after that until there is no need to travel.

Linda Strom-Medvitz, (Maya Sacred Path to 2012 - Dec/06)
El Cajon, CA

The trip was above and beyond anything that I could have perceived. I went with no expectations but with an open heart. Richard was amazing as always and Miguel Angel was a gift beyond measure. All the ceremonies were insightful and brought great spiritual growth for me. I can hardly wait for next year!! I do not believe that anyone can go on a journey like that and remain unchanged. The group was great and I believe that many of us will remain lifelong friends.

Eva-Marie Saumier, (Maya Sacred Path to 2012 - Dec/06)
Banff, Alberta

I set out a year ago to find a trip my daughter Luc and I could take that would provide us with a lasting memory of our last year living together. My little puma finishes school this year and plans to move on to greater places than Rockyford. As budgets are tight in my world, I wanted a trip that offered an educational and unique experience for both of us. This trip served up far more than either of us expected I think. It was more than a glimpse of Mayan culture and history; it was a healing journey for both of us and tackled some things we both needed to ditch to move into our future(s) whole and centered. We will keep our memories of a wonderful trip with wonderful people to a mysterious land. I send a big heart chakra hug to Sacred Earth Journeys and all involved in organizing and executing this trip.

Maya Sacred Path to 2012 was more than a trip; it was a life transforming event that brought the true beauty of the Maya in to focus as no one else could. The guides were knowledgeable, and approachable in the way that one would approach a long time friend, and it attracted the kind of people that are likely to be friends long after the trip is done.

Tim Snodgrass (Maya Sacred Path to 2012 - Dec/06)
El Cajon, CA

In my many travels, I found this to be the most interesting tour I have ever been on. There was a lot of information covered during the days there, yet it left me wanting more. That's a good thing! It was an amazing journey into the past and the future. It was so spiritually enlightening that I relive the experience every day through my memories and my photo's. I thank Sacred Earth Journeys and all of those who were instrumental in putting the journey together. Also not to forget the others who came on the trip and experienced the journey. They too made the journey complete. What a ride!

The temples, land, and people interaction was more than I expected. Having a great local guide in Don Miguel Angel was a blessing. His knowledge, passion and dedication to his mission provided us with an experience beyond a vacation. Time and place were transcended!

How do you begin to explain a mind blowing, mind bending, heart opening, experience in just mere words?? I started out with the feeling that I had not a lot to offer the group. As we progressed through each of the Sites and Chakra's, I became stronger and stronger. Fears melted away. My heart was open to the Group and the Universe. I began to hold space. My shoulder was available to those who needed a helping hand traversing some of the sites. The same shoulder was available to those who were processing their own fears to hold them, breath with them, let my energy flow through. What a feeling to be connected with another Human and the Universe. I have been telling Donna in the past I don't feel this energy that you all are talking about and many have told me I posses a great deal of. NOW I believe. I felt it at many sites but at Chichen Itza it really became evident. I have a picture of me plastered with my back up against the wall. I am breathing in and trying to give energy back to the pyramid IT WON'T LET ME!!!! It is pushing my hands out from the wrists then almost to my elbows. The picture shows this glowing area at my Heart Chakra. Call it just the way the sun is shining, etc. Call it just my imagination but to me is was really, really real. I think I was just about the oldest member of the Group. I will be 75 my next birthday. As people found out my age all said age has nothing to do with it. Your energy, holding space within the group etc. was what counted.

We observed many, many tour groups JUST LOOKING at the Temples, etc. Yes we to saw the magnificence of the temples and the knowledge of the ages contained. More importantly, this was truly a SACRED JOURNEY but not one just outward, but inward, penetrating deeply into the very crevices of the mind and heart, peeling away all facades, exposing the real you and your potential and responsibility to offer healing to the earth. To share wisdom with others at your level of understanding at this time. Knowing that it is only a beginning of my journey that will continue during this lifetime.

Harry Bair (The Bear) (Maya Sacred Path to 2012 - Dec/06)

The only true way to impress you with the value of taking a trip like this to the Yucatan is to have you go yourself. Only a first-hand experience can truly convey the wisdom and cosmic knowledge the Maya people had. We are all Maya, returned to this place in this time, to build a harmonious and eager understanding of our true nature. I have gleaned much understanding from this trip, and will be adding to my teachings in the future. We were fortunate enough to have Miguel Angel Vergara, Ph.D., a Mayan Master Teacher, with us. We did authentic Mayan ceremony at the top of the pyramid at Chichen Itza, and several ceremonies at sites, including Loltun, Uxmal, and Ek Balam. Miguel explained to us his understanding of the true meaning of many of the Mayans philosophies and teachings. As you hear me say: "95% of all communication is energy, not verbal or physical;" so it is with the Yucatan peninsula. We are very fortunate that Helen Tomei, the owner of Sacred Earth Journeys, has the desire to build such wonderful spiritual journeys. She came along on our travels, and our group bonded instantly and made our experiences only stronger. You cannot go on a trip like this and not experience fundamental changes in your character and understanding of our nature.

Richard Jelusich, Ph.D.
Tour Leader - Journey to the Land of the Maya - Oct/05
San Diego, CA

I know you don't need my words to convey how much I loved this trip, Helen. When I wasn't having fun with everybody, I was in calm, reverent beingness. The whole trip was perfect - you, Richard Jelusich, Miguel Angel, Trudy, Julia, our driver Victor Manuel, the hotels, food (especially mangoes!), and most of all the selection of sacred sites and how Miguel taught us so much about them (which of course was teaching us about ourselves and who we really are). And who could guess we'd get to swim, leap and play in a sublime, other-worldly cenote?! What a multi-dimensional journey altogether. Thank you so much for your part in making the magic happen, Helen. You and the other tour leaders made me feel totally supported and taken care of.

Kathleen Ludwig (Journey to the Land of the Maya - Oct/05)

I loved the trip!!! It was so much more than I expected, thank you so much for supplying all the little extras, like the horse drawn carts, and having water on hand in the bus, they were really nice little touches. The hotels were beautiful, much nicer than I expected, food was out of this world, service was top notch, didn't meet a person I didn't like. The Mayan sites were mindboggling. Miguel Angel is truly an angel, one of the kindest and most focused men I've met in my life. Trudy & our driver Guillermo were wonderful, we all became fast friends. All in all, I LOVED it, and almost can't believe it really happened. Thank you Sacred Earth Journeys!

I can't think of any way to improve that trip to Mexico. It was outstanding in everyway. I loved the variety of accommodations. Miguel Angel, Trudy, the drivers, all did an excellent job. I wouldn't want to have missed any of the Mayan sites, and the cenote at Chichen Itza was amazing. I came home so happy - it was absolutely wonderful. I liked staying in Merida as well. Helen you did an outstanding job. Now I want to go to Peru next. The best of everything to you!

Enjoy exploring the many mysteries of the site of Uxmal. Listen, as we sit at the base of the Pyramid of the Magician, while Miguel Angel tells us the legend of how Uxmal was created out of the mists by a dwarf, hatched from an egg. Day 3 Tue, Nov 27: Chakmultun and the First Chakra (B, L)

This fruit is grown locally and in November it is citrus season so you will see huge piles of lemons, limes, grapefruit and many different kinds of oranges.

Not far from Oxcutzcab is the Maya site of Chakmultun. This out-of-the-way site is where we will start our work by cleansing the first, or ‘root’, Chakra. Joining us at Chakmultun is Maya shaman Don Jose. We first create a circle in the shaded area in front of the main temple, then Don Jose, with the help of Miguel Angel, will work with us individually and as a group to balance and cleanse our energy, and heal us on many levels. Don Jose’s work is quite profound.

Join us for a group session this evening. This is your opportunity to ask questions and share your experiences of the day with our group leaders.
