Detailed Itinerary
|
|
|
|
Day 1 Thu,
Dec 2: Arrive Mérida |
|
Arrive in colonial Mérida and transfer to your hotel in the
historic town centre. Mérida, now the capital of Yucatán, was once an important
Maya city called Ich Kaan Ziho, “They Were Born into the Face of the
Sky”. Even today, sitting in the main plaza in the centre of this city, you can
feel the energy and vibration of the ancient temples that used to be there. Of
course, in a sense, they are still there since the buildings around the park,
the Cathedral and the Montejo House, were built from the stones of these ancient
temples. It is a magical and vibrant centre of this Spanish Colonial city.
Most travelers will be arriving in the evening so we will save our introductions
and briefing for the following morning.

|
Day 2 Fri,
Dec 3: Mayapan (B, L) |
|
This morning we explore the rarely visited sacred site of
Mayapan, the sacred city of Kukulkán, considered “The Flag City of the
Mayas”. The city was founded in the year 950 AD for the Maya Teacher Kukulkán,
also known as the Feathered Serpent, the revered teacher who instructed the Maya
in science, philosophy, art, religion, calendars, mathematics, and architecture.
Mayapan was constructed with a very thick stone wall encircling it, leaving two
narrow doors to enter into the city. In the middle of the city, the Maya built
their temples, the largest one bearing similarities to the Temple of Kukulkán”
found in Chichen Itzá, as well as a round temple, serving as the Astronomic
Observatory, which included four doors facing the four directions of the
Universe. Here, Miguel Angel will lead us in a special Opening Ceremony
to welcome us to the land of the Maya before allowing us the opportunity to
explore on our own and spend time in private meditation.
This evening we enjoy a lecture with Miguel Angel Vergara and Dr. Richard
Jelusich, Wisdom of the Ancient Maya Teachers, where we will be
introduced to three of the Maya Wisdom Teachers: Itzamná, IxCheel/Ix Mukane, and
Kukulkán. Miguel Angel and Richard will talk about the symbology of these three
teachers and how they represent the Forces of Creation, the Father, the Mother
and the Son. The lecture will include how the cosmology of the “Holy Trinity”
applies to the Whole Human Being. Richard will discuss how the Maya knew of our
future legacy as activated luminescent light-body beings and the activation of
our “future organ”, the pineal gland (sixth, or ajna chakra). Included will be a
discussion of the evolution of consciousness and the circular and fractal nature
of time as predicted by the Maya.
(Overnight in Mérida at Los Aluxes Hotel) |
 |
| |
|
Day 3 Sat,
Dec 4: Izamal (B, L) |
Today we make our way to the city of Izamal, “The Dew of the Sky”, the
first Maya city in Yucatán. Izamal is a beautiful and surprising place, unlike
any other in the Yucatán. Known as the “Yellow City”, due to all the downtown
buildings being painted yellow, it has some of the best examples of colonial
architecture anywhere. Legend states that when Lord Itzamná arrived from
Atlantis, he founded this city which still bears his name. It is said that when
Lord Itzamná died, they placed his head in the north temple, his heart in the
east temple, and his right hand in the west temple. The south temple is said to
house his priests and disciples. Here we will visit the Franciscan Monastery
which was built on the base of the main pyramid, and then cross over to the
other side of town to visit the pyramid of Kinich Kaak Moo for our
Ceremony of the Sun when we will activate the Light in each of us. We will
enjoy a late lunch in the city of Izamal and then head east to Valladolid for
the evening.
(Overnight in Valladolid at Hotel Mesón del Marqués) |
| |
 |
|
Day 4 Sun, Dec 5: Chichen
Itzá (B, L, D) |
This morning we visit the second city founded by Itzamná, Chichen Itzá,
known as the “The Maya Cosmic University” and the capital city of Mayan wisdom.
If Izamal is considered the spiritual centre, then Chichen Itzá would be the
centre for learning, filled with gifts from the ancient teachers. Here, Miguel
Angel will lead us through part of the initiatic path
which will include
visiting the Pyramid of Kukulkán, the Ball Court, the Sacred
Cenote (Sacred Well), the Observatory, and more!
To escape the peak heat of midday, we make our way to the special Ik Kil
Cenote for a refreshing swim followed by lunch and time to relax before
returning to Valladolid. In the evening we shall return to Ik Kil cenote for a
very special candlelight ceremony and blessing with the wise shaman,
Don Florencio, and receive a “limpia” for spiritual cleansing.
(Overnight in Valladolid at Hotel Mesón del Marqués) |
 |
| |
|
Day 5 Mon, Dec 6: Rio Lagartos
(B, L) |
Today’s Ancient Maya Teacher will be Ixcheel/Ix Mukane who represents the Sacred
Feminine, Mother Nature, and the Heart of the Earth. We will thus devote the day
to the appreciation of the gifts of Mother Earth on our visit to the stunning
area of Rio Lagartos (“alligator river”), a picturesque fishing village
within the 120 acre Biosphere Special Reserve, a nature preserve comprised of
mangrove forest, coastal dune vegetation, low deciduous forest, savannas, and
hummocks. The area is home to over 350 species of native and migratory birds,
including its famous and enormous flamingo colony, as well as other mammals and
amphibians. Connecting with the elements of fire, air, water, and earth we will
take a leisurely, yet exciting boat ride to see the mangrove forest and
the flamingos and then enjoy some time at the beach before having lunch and
returning to Mérida.

|
Day 6 Tue, Dec 7: Edzná (B, D) |
This morning we leave the state of Yucatán and travel to Campeche to the Tucan
Si-ho Playa Resort. Upon arrival, we will have time to settle in and relax at
the beach. In the afternoon, we visit the Mayan site of Edzná, “The House
of the Sacred Mantras”, a site known for its acoustic vibration with the
universe. This sacred site is one of the most important Mayan sites in Campeche,
constructed with a sophisticated system of canals, moats, and reservoirs for
collecting rain water. Here, Miguel Angel will lead us in a special Sunset Ceremony.
(Overnight at the Tucan Si-ho Playa Resort) |

|
|
Day 7 Wed, Dec 8:
Ceremony with Mother Earth (B, D) |
Today we spend the entire day preparing for our very special Ceremony with
Mother Earth. The day will consist of lectures with Richard
explaining the purpose of the ceremony, as well as special practices with
Miguel Angel to help us prepare for the ceremony so that we will be completely
present in mind, body and soul. In the evening we will then gather on the beach
at sunset, and with the use of specific Maya shaman techniques, we will each be
led to experience a deep and personal connection with Mother Earth in our own
unique way.
(Overnight at the Tucan Si-ho Playa Resort) |
|
|
|
Day 8 Thu, Dec 9: Xtakunbilxunan Cave (B, D) |
This morning we travel a little further into Campeche and enter the evocative
Xtakunbilxunan Cave, considered to be one of the entrances to the Maya
Underworld. Our time in the cave will allow us the opportunity to ground after
last evening’s ceremony. The name in Maya translates as follows: Ix = Sacred
Feminine, TAKUN = hidden, IL = place, XUNAN = lovers. We will enter deep into
the earth to connect with Grandmother Ix Mukane, give her our thanks and
offerings, and ask for her guidance. Miguel Angel will also enchant us with
ancient stories and legends connected with this very special place. We then
return to our resort for some free time at the beach before gathering together
for a pre-dinner sharing circle to share some of our experiences, insights, and
discoveries.
After dinner, we enjoy an informative lecture with Richard where he will
discuss the cosmology of the Maya and the end of the long count calendar in
2012, and examine the various theories relating to this time. Will it be
apocalyptic? Will it be a time of asteroids, phobos, comets, nibiru, galactic
superwaves, or electromagnetic pulses? Richard will also share the ancient
prophecies of the Maya Wisdom Teachings, discuss the spirituality and
consciousness related to the core Mayan teachings, and teach us that is truly a
time to “embrace your self” and not “brace your self”.
(Overnight at the Tucan Si-ho Playa Resort) |
| |
|
Day 9 Fri,
Dec 10: Labná (B, L, D) |
This morning, enjoy some independent time to lounge on the beach or spend some
time in private contemplation to reflect on your personal journey. We will then
visit the ceremonial site of Labná where we will walk along the Sacbe and
through a beautifully decorated Mayan arch, considered a gateway to another
dimension. Here will connect once again with the energies of Mother Earth. After
spending some time to soak in these energies, we will gather together for a
special Closing Ceremony with Miguel Angel.
Later we return to Mérida for some last minute shopping time. In the evening we
come together once more for our final Farewell Dinner.
