Of all the sacred sites, Machu Picchu is amongst the most talked about
and mysterious. Truly there are more questions asked than answered regarding its
purpose and ultimate demise. Imagine a city of incredible structures built using
50 ton blocks of stone, fitting so perfectly together (without mortar) that you
cannot fit a hair between the joints! Five square miles of astrological
perfection sits majestically on top of a misty mountain in the Andes (8000
feet). Located two thousand feet above the rumbling Urubamba river, the city
remained untouched and undiscovered until Yale archaeologist Hiram Bingham
explored it in 1911.
On this spiritual journey, we will be using the energies of this amazing country
to assist us in experiencing the divine within. Peru is the perfect place for
this adventure of ceremony and inner exploration of the heart. We will be joined
by Jorge Luis Delgado, Peruvian Mystic and Shaman, and great source of
the ancient Inca teachings and traditions. By the end of this journey you will
consider Jorge family.
Using the three levels of the Inca’s mythology of transcendence, we move from
the dark underworld of our own minds to the clarity of spiritual consciousness.
The snake, puma and condor will be the symbols we use to represent our spiritual
ascension for these 12 sacred days together.
Cusco, Ollantaytambo, the Sacred Valley, Moray and Tipon are some of the
locations we will explore. There will be sharing, process work, ceremony,
meditation, fire ceremony and exploration on this incredible and sacred
spiritual retreat. Please join us!
I was
interested in travelling to Peru and decided to go with Sacred Earth Journeys
because I figured that going to such a spiritual place should be appreciated
within that context. I wasn't sure how I was going to fit in because I thought
that the group might be a little 'out there'. Helen assured me that there were
all types, and she was right. In fact, everybody had something very interesting
to add to the group dynamic. The Lake Titicacca excursion turned out to be an
incredible life-affirming and life-altering experience for me. I remember our
tour leader Andrea saying, "there is life before Peru, and life after Peru". I
thought she might have been exaggerating; however, I can now attest to the truth
of her statement. Thank-you Helen for facilitating this journey.

The Sacred Earth Journey trip to Peru
is an opportunity not to miss, particularly the Inca Mysteries and Magic trip I
participated in during June, 2004. Helen Tomei in Vancouver co-ordinates the
trip, and takes care of organizing all the finest details from the plane ticket
to the hotels, and anything else you request. I just had to show up to enjoy the
adventure. Helen's knowledge and passion for travel makes her a great travel
adventure representative, and the uniqueness of the trips she represents is
strongly reflected by her web page. After three weeks, I left Peru with a
renewed sense of awe at the legacies so many of the spiritual sites offer to
those seeking to experience a deeper spiritual dimension. It was quite a
humbling experience to participate in group ceremonies at the many sacred sites
in the Sacred Valley, and the leadership, knowledge and wisdom of the group tour
leaders, Andrea and Jorge enrichened the experiences. Through exploration, I
learnt so much about the history of the temples and sacred places, but
practising the ceremonies lent an "experiencial" element that deepened my
understanding of these temple sites. The night ceremony at Machu Picchu will
remain a highlight to the trip. Standing beneath the stars of the Milky Way, and
surrounded by the beauty of Machu Picchu, I felt privileged to have an
opportunity to connect on such a personal level with the stones, apus and
pachamama. The trip was both a communal and personal journey... the fellowship
of the group kept the energy fun and interesting, and all in all, the trip was a
perfect blend of laughter, adventure and spiritual pilgrimage. It was a unique
visual and spiritual feast, and something I will cherish for the rest of my
life.
