Greetings!
It is finally starting to feel like Spring here in Vancouver. The cherry blossoms are in full bloom, flowers are displaying their vibrant colours, buds are forming on the trees and the sun is radiating a welcomed warmth. What a wonderful time to recognize our oneness and union with the universe! If you are feeling a bit disconnected from yourself and everything around you, Yoga is a wonderful way to help restore this balance.
The Sanskrit word Yoga, means Union and refers to traditional physical and mental disciplines which originated in India thousands of years ago. Patanjali, known as the "Father of Yoga", believed that the practice of Yoga could help cultivate body, mind, and spiritual awareness, allowing one to achieve union and oneness with all. Patanjali compiled the "Yoga Sutras of Patanjali", a collection of important aphorisms on the practice of Yoga. This sacred text, including 195 sutras or aphorisms, was essentially a training manual teaching the foundations necessary to live a moral and ethical life by incorporating the science of yoga. The heart of Patanjali's teachings was the "Eightfold Path of Yoga" or the "8 Limbs of Patanjali", suggestions for living a better life through yoga. The 8 limbs or sutras were: Yama (ethics & restraint), Niyama (purity & discipline), Asana (posture), Pranayam (breath control), Pratyahara (sense withdrawal), Dharana (concentration), Dhyana (meditation), and Samadhi (oneness with the universe, absolute bliss & enlightenment). The 8 limbs act together and teach that by combining practices of the body and mind, one can attain the full realization of oneness with Spirit.
On our NEW yoga journey, The Spirit of India - February 13 - 28, 2010, our tour leader, certified Yoga Teacher, Michele Labelle, will further explain the philosophies of Patanjali while we explore the wonders of South India. The journey will include visits to sacred temples and sites, yoga and meditation classes, accommodation at beautiful eco resorts, heritage hotels and on a luxury houseboat, and exciting highlights such as a leisurely boat ride on Periyar Lake in the Wildlife Sanctuary, the evocative Prayer Ceremony at the Meenakshi Temple and the captivating Kathakali Dance Show in Kochi. We are also offering an extension while in Kerala to have more time in this stunning paradise and take advantage of the wonderful Ayurvedic therapy programs available at the resort. This journey will allow us to enjoy the beauty of the more tranquil southern districts of India while allowing us to reconnect with ourselves and the universe and realize this great union. So slow down, relax and rejuvenate, and join us on this amazing journey. We plan to keep the group small and intimate so please register early for this wonderful opportunity.

Vancouver Event
We are so excited and honoured to have our Maya Wisdom Teacher, Miguel Angel Vergara Calleros, visit us here in Vancouver this June for a workshop on Maya Wisdom Teachings. We made an announcement to our BC list last month, but thought it would be great to announce it to all who may be interested in these teachings. For more information please click here. The workshop is already beginning to fill up so please contact us ASAP if you are interested in registering. This is a rare opportunity, so don't miss out! Miguel Angel will also be offering private sessions on June 4, 5, 8, and 9 where he will create your personal Maya Birth Chart and explain how to use the Mayan Glyphs as a guide.
