\"\"<\/a>Our upcoming tour to Ireland in September will no doubt be full of \u2018endless supplies of ale\u2019 (whether we find it at Newgrange or at a local pub!). But what goes better with a pint of Guinness than a good jig or two? Irish traditional music has its roots in many kinds of songs–drinking songs, ballads, step dances. But for those of us that are fans of modern Irish music–of the Van Morrison, Sinead O\u2019Connor and U2 ilk–it\u2019s also interesting to note the influences of traditional Irish music you can hear in these mainstream popular songs.<\/p>\n

This is just the tip of the iceberg, of course. I\u2019m happy to say that our Ireland tour will include a special guest who will enlighten you even more about Irish music. Author, musicologist and lecturer P.J. Curtis will take us on a musical journey to the soul of Ireland and its music. P.J. has been involved in music and writing since the mid-seventies, and is one of Ireland\u2019s leading authorities on Irish music.<\/p>\n
