In the beginning of my travels this answer constantly changed, it started as Egypt then was Thailand for many years. But since 2008 when I first visited India it has remained as India and I can\u2019t imagine that changing.<\/p>\n<p>The next question I get asked is <b>\u2018Why is India my favourite country out of 40?\u2019<\/b> My simple answer is India has depth<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Local people<\/b> &#8211; are so honest, pure and accepting.<\/li>\n<li><b>Local cuisine<\/b> &#8211; tantalizes my vegetarian tastebuds like no other food does.<\/li>\n<li><b>Fellow travellers<\/b> \u2013 most are on a spiritual journey, which results in deeper conversations and connections.<\/li>\n<li><b>Natural landscape<\/b> \u2013 the beauty is phenomenal and ranges from deserts, to the highest mountains in the world, surf beaches, diving spots and lush forests with waterfalls.<\/li>\n<li><b>Culture<\/b> \u2013 is bustling with amazing festivals, Bollywood, India weddings, interesting slang and a ton of regional languages.<\/li>\n<li><b>Religion<\/b> &#8211; from Buddhism, Sikhism to Yoga and Ayurveda this culture has amazing ancient teachings mostly supported by an ancient library preserved in the pure language of Sanskrit.<\/li>\n<li><b>Sacred sites<\/b> \u2013 there are hundreds of ancient Hindu &amp; Buddhist temples and holy cities such as Varanassi, Rishikesh and Pushkar, many which are sites for pilgrims.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\" align=\"center\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\"><a style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-OmAXCUzK3Fc\/T9J-4pfDUyI\/AAAAAAAAAVA\/DRfbJ1_02pg\/s1600\/P1050469.JPG\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sacredearthjourneys.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/P1050469-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" border=\"0\"  class=\"img-responsive\" \/><\/span><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;\">Local girls in Leh, Ladakh<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The two experiences I had in India over an eight-month period were transformational experiences that have changed my life for the better.
