Tour Description

Follow Sanna Sanita from majestic mountains into the magical Sahara Desert. This journey is dedicated to awakening the senses, deepening presence, and appreciating beauty in all its forms. To maintain depth and intimacy, our journey will be limited to a maximum of 16 participants.

Although not exclusively for women, this sacred journey is dedicated to the feminine essence, the mystery of the soul, and aims to bring you closer to yourself and what really matters in life. We honour the feminine as a principle, and experience it thriving through beauty, slow movements, soulful practices, a connection with our sensual selves, and delicious foods.

Camel trek through the Moroccan Sahara

Throughout the journey, Sanna will be offering many different practices to deepen the experience and help you embrace the inner and outer changes you desire. We start from the outside and slowly but surely peel the layers so the deeper magic can be felt, sensed, smelled, and perceived until we melt and merge the outer with the inner. Macrocosmos with microcosmos. All the practices will create a vortex that you can source from – not only in Morocco, but through your own inner well of magnificence when you return home.

Our adventure will start with two days in a serene oasis just outside of Marrakesh to leave the distractions and noise of daily life behind. We then cross the High Atlas Mountains with fantastic panoramic views before descending into the lush palm valley that follows the Draa River. We spend two days in an oasis town located along the old caravan route linking Marrakesh to Timbuktu. We’ll have time here for practices, walks, visiting nearby villages, wandering through ancient kasbahs, and experiencing a traditional steam bath called a Hammam.

The beautiful Draa Valley

We then follow the Draa Valley south, passing through desert cities and villages, to reach the last outpost at the end of the tarmac. After a 4x4 journey into the desert, we will travel by camel caravan at sunset, crossing small dunes, dry riverbeds and stone desert to reach our luxury camp at the edge of the great Dunes of Chegaga. Here we’ll meet for daily practices and sharing circles as well as other adventures that suit our soul, from stargazing to camel rides.

Our Desert Camp

On our return from the desert, we spend another two days near the UNESCO site of Ait Ben Haddou, the most celebrated and best-preserved kasbah in Morocco. Our guesthouse is set in a village, with stunning views over the Atlas Mountains and is the perfect place to relax and integrate our desert experience, while deepening our practices and vision for the future.

Ait Ben Haddou

Our Practices:

Our practices will vary depending on the day, the energy of the group, and the places we visit. The themes we will explore are below.

Soft feminine yoga and embodiment practices will help muscles and joints to soften, your face to relax, and your heart to soften from the inside. We leave structures, goals, and the linear behind to open to the wild, untamed, and unknown. The spontaneous, smooth, and mischievous. In other words, we use yogic techniques to peel the layers, soften the edges and come closer to home.

Neurotransformative Breathwork (NTB) releases stagnant energy and deepens consciousness. This unique breathwork, designed by Sanna, is highly rejuvenating, alkalizing, and regulating for the nervous system. It alters mood and brings a true sense of joy! In addition to the many benefits of breathwork, NTB aims specifically to teach the practitioner how to reprogram their nervous system and neurons in order to create a desired reality. This is a deep and profound practice that always provides benefits on the mat and can create magic if, in everyday life, the practitioner applies the secrets.

Sense activation aims to bring you deeper and closer to your true self. When riding into the desert, you want to merge with the surroundings, and the more present you become, the more you will feel and experience. You will learn a variety of self-touch-based methods, that not only activate your sensual self but also provide a deeper connection in all your relationships and love life – that’s a guarantee!

Dyads and Inquiry: when the mind is still and the senses awake, inquiry will support you in relating to the mystery around you. Perhaps even to the depth of direct experience of the here and now, one of the most fulfilling experiences of a human heart.

Vibrational toning: feel the body coming alive through simple mantra and toning. This regulates and rejuvenates from the inside out. Envision a fire in the desert, the sound of burning and cracking wood, the stars shining and the presence of the ancient history of the desert surrounding you as you let go with rhythm, sound, and the elements...

On arrival into Marrakesh, you’ll be met at the airport and transferred to our home for the next two nights. Located near the village of Oumnas, between the Agafay Desert and Lalla Takerkoust Lake, Berber Lodge is a serene oasis where you can relax, enjoy nature, and escape the hustle and bustle. Just 30 minutes outside of the city, and nestled amongst ancient olive groves, it comprises nine individual lodges laid out in a Berber village feel. The lodges offer modest but sophisticated accommodation, combining traditional building materials such as earth bricks and wooden beams of palm and eucalyptus with modern comforts and chic, stylish décor.

This evening, we gather together for our Welcome Dinner and meet our Tour Leader, Sanna Sanita, and local expert guide. We participate in our first welcome ritual as we get to know each other and set our intentions for the upcoming days, inspired to open the senses through the beauty of place and food. Our theme for this evening is: How to open our eyes to beauty all around.

(Overnight near Marrakesh at Berber Lodge or similar)

After a traditional breakfast, we meet for our morning practice of soft, sensual breathwork to clear the body and mind from any stress so we can be open to receive the upcoming journey in peace, presence, and joy. Today’s theme is: Deepening the journey of awakening the senses and soul connection.

Your guide and minibus are at your disposal should you wish to make a visit to Marrakesh, or the surrounding areas such as Takerkoust Lake, the Agafay Desert, or the Atlas Mountains. There are a variety of activities that can be arranged in these areas including hikes, horseback riding, or an orientation walk from the property where you can learn about the region.

Today we begin our six-hour journey to Agdz in the Draa Valley. Leaving Marrakesh, we climb up from the Haouz plains to cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi’n Tichka, the highest road pass in Morocco at 2260m (7415 ft). The winding route offers fantastic panoramic views across the mountains and down into deep valleys. Soon after crossing the pass, we’ll see changes in character and vegetation as the desert starts to stamp its imprint on the landscape.

We stop for lunch (at own expense) in beautiful Oasis Fint, near the city of Ouarzazate, once a major crossing point for African traders seeking to reach northern cities in Morocco and Europe. We then climb through dramatic rock formations before descending into the lush palm valley that follows the Draa River. Agdz, which means “resting place,” is an oasis town located along the old caravan route linking Marrakech to Timbuktu (in Mali) and played an important role in the exchange of goods across the Sahara. Today it still has a role in the trade of dates from the nearby Draa Valley.

Buried deep in the palm groves of the Draa, our home for the next two nights, Kasbah Azul, has one of the most idyllic locations of any property in Morocco. From the garden all you see is palm trees and the crumbling ruins of emblematic southern Moroccan kasbahs. The guesthouse has comfortable suites, a swimming pool, and a lovely garden.

Early this evening, enjoy an atmospheric and interesting walk with our guide. Being early November, we may even catch the date harvest! Afterwards, we’ll enjoy a delicious fusion of French-Moroccan cuisine with vegetables and fruits from the Kasbah gardens.

(Overnight in Agdz at Kasbah Azul or similar)

Our morning practice today will focus on “softening the edges,” after which we’ll enjoy a Hammam, a traditional steam bath and part of everyday life in Morocco. The Hammam is beautifully and simply designed, with wood-fired heat and smooth tadelakt walls and benches. In the steam room your pores open, and an invigorating scrub with olive or eucalyptus oil soap will remove any impurities. For further relaxation and to truly complete this experience, you can book a massage (optional).

This afternoon, our guide and minibus are at our disposal for visits to the surrounding area. There are opportunities for walks and exploring nearby villages where you can wander through ancient kasbahs for a glimpse of traditional life in years past, such as the superb kasbah in Tamnougalt. We will also have the special opportunity to visit the weekly souk (market) held each Thursday on the edge of the town, where local villagers come from all around come to trade and socialize.

This evening, we join together for dinner and a session with the theme of “expand as love.”

(Overnight in Agdz at Kasbah Azul or similar)

Today we start our journey to the desert, the Dunes of Erg Chegaga, where we will intensify our inner journey for four nights. We follow the Draa Valley south to the desert city of Zagora, the last real civilization before the desert. It was here that the camel caravans would arrive from the Sahara on their way to trading posts on the coast. Near the town centre is a famous sign indicating that it took 52 days to get to Timbuktu!

We then continue further south via the village of Tamegroute, which was once a great hub of learning and religion, and home to one of the largest Sufi brotherhoods. Here, we’ll enjoy a guided visit and see the potteries. After a relaxing lunch stop in M’Hamid, the last outpost at the end of the tarmac, we’ll board our 4x4 vehicles to start our journey into the desert.

As the sun sets, we will travel by camel caravan into the desert, crossing small dunes, dry riverbeds and stone desert to reach our camp at the edge of the great Dunes of Chegaga.

Our luxury desert camp is one of the best in the region, 60km off-road from M’Hamid. It is surrounded by magnificent sand dunes and is located next to some of the highest dunes in all of Morocco.

We’ll sleep in deluxe Caidal tents, complete with comfortable beds, plush bedding, carpets, bedside tables with solar-powered lamps, an armchair, and ottoman. Robes and slippers as well as a private ensuite toilet and washroom with toiletries are also provided. Due to water shortages in the desert, instead of a shower you are given two 20-litre silver pewter buckets with hot and cold water for a “bucket bath.”

(Overnight in the desert at Erg Chigaga Luxury Desert Camp)

We have three full days at our desert camp. Our local guide is at our disposal to assist with organizing any activities we might like to undertake. This can include camel rides, desert hikes, a visit to the local nomad, learning to cook traditional bread in the sand, and more. At the camp all meals, drinks, guided camel treks, and evening sundowners on the dunes are included.

We will balance activities with free time and contemplation. Camp fire, music, singing, drumming, and stargazing every night!

Our morning practice will include journaling and focusing on “Softening the edges.” This evening we will gather for a sharing circle to explore our soul purpose.

(Overnight in the desert at Erg Chigaga Luxury Desert Camp)

We begin today with another morning practice focused on “Softening the edges.” There is a lovely relaxing area in the camp with poufs, cushions, and hammocks, where we can work with Sanna on breathwork, dyad, meditation, and other practices that enhance our call to silence.

In the evenings, we will set up at the top of the dunes for tea or a drink and enjoy the stunning sunset. Dinners are served under the stars, or in our Berber tent. Each night a campfire will be lit, and we can join in with the staff for a night of music and drumming or take our journey inward in silence.

(Overnight in the desert at Erg Chigaga Luxury Desert Camp)

Our morning practice today will be on the theme of “Sensing… eating with hands.” We will also enjoy camel rides in silence as well as choose from any of the other activities offered that we feel called towards.

We can also spend time integrating the experiences so far by sitting quietly in reflection or journaling. This evening, we enjoy our final dinner in the desert as we watch the sun set and the stars appear.

(Overnight in the desert at Erg Chigaga Luxury Desert Camp)

This morning we leave our desert camp and travel by 4x4s back to M’Hamid to meet our minibus once again. We head back up the Draa Valley towards Ouarzazate, and then onwards to Ait Ben Haddou (our total journey time today is around five hours, not including stops).

Ait Ben Haddou is the most celebrated and best-preserved kasbah in Morocco. The ancient village is an 11th century “ksour” (a collection of kasbahs or fortified houses), which is still inhabited by a handful of families. The kasbah has been restored with the help of UNESCO and is one of the finest examples of mud brick architecture in Morocco. It gained particular notoriety when scenes from Ridley Scott’s epic Gladiator were filmed there. You’ll have the chance to wander around and climb up to the top of the kasbah for superb panoramic views across to the Atlas Mountains.

Riad Caravane is our home for the next two relaxing nights. This eight-room guesthouse is set in the village of Ait Boulmane, 1km from Ait Ben Haddou, with stunning views over the Atlas Mountains and the kasbah. Our enchanting guesthouse is both stylish and contemporary, with adobe architecture, natural tones, a lovely pool, and ancient styles with modern standards.

(Overnight in Ait Ben Haddou at the Riad Caravane or similar)

In our session this morning, we start to orient outward as we prepare for the final part of our journey and return home. We begin with sensual yoga and breathing practices. We then turn towards “Essence oriented sharing,” how to speak from your deepest truth and show up for real. This is part of our integration and contemplation work, and we will also set our intention for coming home.

This afternoon is free to explore the kasbah village, relax at the Riad, or enjoy a traditional lunch at a local house in the kasbah. Your local guide and transport are at your disposal.

This evening we will feast under the stars as we gather for a succulent dinner together.

(Overnight in Ait Ben Haddou at the Riad Caravane or similar)

Today, after breakfast, we continue our journey through the stunning Ounila Valley to Telouet. This valley was originally the main thoroughfare for the trans-Saharan trade route between Marrakesh and sub-Saharan Africa. Today, evidence of this once highly important role is reflected in the numerous crumbling kasbahs and ksour which are dotted all throughout the valley.

We make a stop at Telouet, centered around a crumbling, and now uninhabited, kasbah built over four centuries. Telouet once held a privileged position on the caravan routes that crossed the Atlas Mountains and was the seat of power from where the Glaoui ruled southern Morocco during the French occupation.

From Telouet we continue on to the Haouz Plains, driving again on the main road near the Tizi’n Tichka pass with its stunning mountain and valley views, before arriving at the Red City of Marrakesh. (The drive today is about five hours, not including stops.)

Tonight, we gather for our Farewell Dinner. This is a time to enjoy each other’s company and reflect on the days we have spent together, share memories with our newfound friends, discuss our personal journey highlights, and give thanks for the remarkable blessings we’ve received on our own sacred journey.

(Overnight in Marrakesh at the Beldi Country Club or similar)

After a final breakfast, we gather for a closing circle, tying everything together and setting the vision for the future.

Afterwards, transfer to Marrakesh Menara International Airport in time for your departure flight. The pickup time will be arranged to get you to the airport at least two hours before your flight departs, to allow time for check-in and security procedures.

*If you have a late afternoon or evening departure, or if you choose to stay an extra night in Marrakesh, we can arrange a visit to Marrakesh, this capital of the Moroccan south, an oasis town in hues of red, ochre and pink, rising up out of the dusty plains to the north of the Atlas Mountains. The ancient centre, a UNESCO Heritage Site, is said to be the second largest medieval complex in the world, after Cairo. The medina (old town) of Marrakesh is a beguiling labyrinth of alleyways, souks (markets) and workshops where little has changed since the Middle Ages. Although Marrakesh has a small selection of monuments and museums, such as the ancient El Badi and Bahia Palaces and the museums of Marrakech and Dar Si Said, a world-famous botanical garden, Les Jardins Majorelle, and an impressive 12th Century rampart surrounding the city’s medina, the real draw of the place is its colourful, lively and exotic atmosphere.
