Description

There are places on Earth where Nature speaks with extraordinary power, reminding us of our deepest connection to the living world and our responsibility to protect it. In South Africa’s Greater Timbavati region, the ancestral Heartlands of the rare White Lions is one such place—a protected Sacred Natural Site where conservation, Indigenous wisdom and a profound reverence for the living Earth come together.

Golden light spills over the Malachite Lands of South Africa.

This special seven-day School of Sacred Warriorship brings together acclaimed spiritual teacher Andrew Harvey and pioneering conservationist Linda Tucker within the Heartlands of the Global White Lion Protection Trust. Rather than a conventional safari or spiritual retreat, this donor-supported experience is rooted in a shared commitment to protecting the White Lions, restoring their natural habitat and cultivating a more compassionate relationship between humanity and Nature.

For more than three decades, Linda has dedicated her life to safeguarding these magnificent animals and their ancestral lands. Combining cutting-edge conservation science with ancient Indigenous knowledge, the Trust’s guiding philosophy, Lions, Land, People, recognizes the interconnectedness of all life.

Participants learn about this work firsthand through guided scientific monitoring excursions with the Trust’s experienced conservation team. Travelling by 4x4 into the protected White Lion territories, we have opportunities to observe the lions in their natural habitat and gain insight into the ongoing efforts to protect them. A visit to Sunlands introduces StarSoil Solutions, the Trust’s regenerative permaculture and agro-ecology project focused on restoring soils and protecting vital waterways.

The Royal Family of Greater Timbavati.

Time for rest and quiet contemplation is woven into the programme. A picnic lunch beneath ancient baobabs at Ark Lodge in the beautiful Malachite Lands offers an opportunity to appreciate the surrounding bushveld, while a day of silence, including time at Ankora, the Monolithic Stone Calendar, invites us to set aside everyday distractions and listen more deeply to Nature. We also visit the Crystal StarLion, a sculpture by South African artist Andries Botha honouring the White Lions.

Throughout the experience, Andrew and Linda bring together their complementary teachings in Sacred Activism, Lion Shamanism and the 13 Laws of LionHearted Leadership™. Through guided practices and discussions, participants explore qualities of courage, compassion and conscious leadership. These teachings and our encounters in the Heartlands help shape each participant’s Promise of Sacred Service to Nature—a personal, practical commitment to carry the spirit of stewardship into everyday life.

Shared experiences, lasting friendships, and a deeper connection to the living Earth.

Above all, this School of Sacred Warriorship offers an opportunity to witness and support the Trust’s extraordinary work, while exploring how compassion, conscious leadership and practical service can strengthen our relationship with the living Earth.

A Sacred Natural Site and Conservation Project

The White Lion Heartlands is a protected working conservation project and Sacred Natural Site, not a public wildlife attraction, safari destination or commercial accommodation facility. Access is by invitation, with participants expected to share the Trust’s values and conservation mission. Participants are expected to approach the experience with humility and respect, and to observe all site instructions. The Trust retains responsibility for conditions of access and may end a visit where safety, conduct or wellbeing is at risk.

May the White Lions of Timbavati forever thrive in their ancestral Heartlands, for generations to come.

Upon arrival at Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport, we are welcomed by the Global White Lion Protection Trust team and make our way into the breathtaking wilderness of Greater Timbavati, ancestral home of South Africa’s rare White Lions. Here, within the UNESCO-designated Kruger-to-Canyons Biosphere, lies Tsau, a protected Sacred Natural Site where these magnificent animals and their natural habitat are being lovingly safeguarded for future generations.

Arriving at Camp Unicorn, our simple home in the Heartlands, we begin to settle into the peaceful rhythms of the African bushveld. The afternoon offers time to rest, absorb the beauty of our surroundings and reconnect with Nature. Depending on the Trust's arrangements, we may enjoy a guided walk within the protected camp area or an introductory documentary sharing the remarkable story of the White Lions and the conservation efforts that have helped secure their future.

As evening falls, we gather for our first supper together, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the African wilderness. Inspired by Andrew Harvey's vision of Sacred Activism, we begin to reflect on our relationship with the living Earth and how a deeper connection with Nature can awaken courage, compassion and a commitment to its protection.

Golden-Hour African Bushveld Panorama

We awaken to our first full morning in the White Lion Heartlands, surrounded by the quiet beauty of the African bush. After breakfast, the day begins with reflection and intention-setting, guided by Linda Tucker and the sacred traditions of this remarkable place.

Drawing on the concept of Zep Tepi, or the First Time, Linda invites us to consider the significance of origins, both within the ancient story of the White Lions and within our own lives. What has brought us to this sacred land? What unique gifts and intentions might we bring into service to Nature? These reflections begin to lay the foundation for a personal Promise of Sacred Service that will take shape throughout our time in the Heartlands.

Linda shares her extraordinary knowledge of the White Lions, exploring their ecological, cultural and spiritual significance, their place within ancient Indigenous wisdom traditions, and the pioneering conservation work of the Global White Lion Protection Trust. We discover how the Trust has worked to restore White Lions to their ancestral territories, protect the surrounding ecosystem and create a model of conservation that brings lasting benefits to Lions, Land and People.

Later in the afternoon, we may accompany the Trust's experienced conservation team on a 4x4 scientific monitoring excursion into the protected lion territories. This offers an opportunity to observe the natural environment and, if conditions permit, the magnificent White Lions themselves, while learning more about the ongoing efforts to protect them.

We return to Camp Unicorn for supper and time to reflect on our experiences.

Assegaia the white lion

Our morning begins with a dawn scientific monitoring excursion into the protected White Lion territories, accompanied by the Trust's experienced conservation team. This offers another opportunity to deepen our understanding of the White Lions, their natural habitat and the ongoing efforts to safeguard their future.

After breakfast, time at Camp Unicorn offers space for rest and reflection. Linda’s First Law of LionHearted Leadership™—Origination—invites us to honour our roots and recognize the gifts we can bring into service to Nature, echoing Andrew Harvey’s Sacred Activism.

Later, we visit Sunlands to learn about StarSoil Solutions, the Trust’s regenerative permaculture and agro-ecology project, where restoring soils and protecting vital waterways supports the regeneration of the ecosystem.

Another scientific monitoring excursion takes place later in the day.

We gather for supper and share our experiences, reflecting on the gifts we each carry and how they might be offered in meaningful service to the living world.

Two lions walking through the bush

A scientific monitoring excursion takes us into the protected White Lion territories with the Trust’s conservation team. Observing the wildlife deepens our appreciation of the relationships between the lions, their habitat and the wider ecosystem they help sustain.

The Trust’s StarLion Team introduces the 13 Laws of LionHearted Leadership™ and their connection to regeneration and conscious leadership.

Linda Tucker guides reflection on the interconnectedness of all life and our responsibility to protect it. Her teachings on the Twelfth and Thirteenth Laws of LionHearted Leadership™—Aspiration and Elimination—invite us to consider what we hope to bring into the world and what we must release. Andrew Harvey’s Sacred Activism calls us to transform this understanding into courageous, compassionate action.

After lunch, Linda introduces Ankora, the Monolithic Stone Calendar, and prepares us for the following day’s silence.

The afternoon allows time for rest and another conservation monitoring excursion, offering further insight into the Trust’s work to restore the natural balance of the Heartlands.

Following supper, we enter a period of silence and turn to the Sacred Flame and the ancient symbolism of guarding and passing on the fire. In Linda’s teachings, this represents the continuity of life and our responsibility to future generations. At the firepit, under Linda’s guidance and in accordance with the site’s protocols, we reflect on the commitments we wish to carry forward.

Andrew and group

The day continues in silence, setting aside everyday distractions to listen more deeply to Nature. We begin with a visit to Ankora, the Monolithic Stone Calendar, where Linda Tucker introduces its significance in her teachings on sacred time and humanity’s relationship with the natural world.

A scientific monitoring excursion into the White Lion territories offers an opportunity to observe the animals and their habitat in quietude. Without photography or unnecessary conversation, we turn our attention to the movements of the wildlife, the work of the conservation team and the remarkable interconnectedness of this living ecosystem.

The remainder of the day is devoted to meditation, contemplation and personal reflection. Through the Third and Fifth Laws of LionHearted Leadership™—Communication and Radiance—Linda invites us to explore the importance of truly listening and the ways our individual gifts can enrich the world. Andrew Harvey’s teachings on Sacred Activism deepen this exploration, encouraging us to consider how inner awareness can inspire courageous service to the Earth and all its inhabitants.

We gradually emerge from silence to share our experiences and the understanding that has begun to take shape. Supper provides an opportunity to reconnect with one another while honouring the stillness of the day.

Our final full day brings Andrew and Linda’s teachings into focus as we prepare our personal Promise of Sacred Service to Nature.

Following breakfast, we venture into the beautiful Malachite Lands, part of the greater White Lion Heartlands. Here, we visit the Ark Lodge and enjoy a picnic lunch beneath ancient baobabs, with time for rest and quiet contemplation, surrounded by the natural beauty of this remarkable landscape.

Inspired by the Eleventh Law of LionHearted Leadership™—Liberation—we explore what it means to free ourselves from limiting patterns and bring our unique gifts into fuller expression. Linda's teachings find a natural connection with Andrew Harvey's Sacred Activism, inviting us to consider how our individual strengths and talents can contribute to the healing and regeneration of the Earth.

Returning to the Heartlands, we visit the Crystal StarLion, a striking sculpture created by South African artist Andries Botha in honour of the White Lions. Here, Linda’s Seventh and Eighth Laws of LionHearted Leadership™—Collaboration and Authentication—encourage us to recognize our unique gifts and how they can be offered in genuine service. Andrew’s vision of Sacred Activism reinforces the importance of making our commitments real through the choices we make and the actions we take.

With Linda’s guidance, each of us clarifies a personal Promise of Sacred Service to Nature, a meaningful commitment to carry beyond the Heartlands. We return to Camp Unicorn for a final supper together, reflecting on how courage, compassion and responsibility can shape our relationship with the living Earth.

Our final morning offers a last opportunity to accompany the Trust’s conservation team into the protected wilderness at dawn. We take time to appreciate the beauty of the Heartlands and the extraordinary dedication required to protect the White Lions and their ancestral home.

Following breakfast, we say farewell to Linda Tucker and the conservation team and staff who have shared their knowledge, care and commitment throughout our stay. The Trust then transfers us to Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport for our onward flights.

We leave the Heartlands with the teachings of LionHearted Leadership™ and Sacred Activism, and a deeper understanding of what it means to serve Nature. Our Promise of Sacred Service invites us to put that understanding into practice each day.
